AFL do Brasil - Safety & Health in Workplace Award

AFL do Brasil, a company from Alcoa – automotive division, located in Itajubá-MG, was awarded the prizes ABS (Agência Brasil de Segurança) for Safety and Health in the Workplace, Environment and Prevention and Fire Fight and Emergencies. The ceremony took place on Nov 25th, at the Transatlântico Club, in São Paulo-SP, when Odérsio Martinhão Filho, AFL EHS Superintendent, received the prizes on behalf of the company.

AFL has reported zero incident or recordable disease. This accomplishment represents one of the highest performances and comes as an example that "ZERO INCIDENT" is a feasible target. Turning to numbers, that represents over 12 million hours worked without off-the-job accidents, what represents over 2660 days without serious accidents, until Oct 2004.

The tasks conducted at AFL have focused on identifying dangers, evaluating risks, their seriousness and the deployment of solutions including control strategies and additional protection layers.

Another important point is training, with awareness of employees about the main causes for accidents, including the behavior question.

For Odérsio Martinhão Filho, receiving these prizes means for AFL do Brasil the recognition of all the hard work towards accident prevention and assurance of a safe working place.
