Community
Alcoans invest in their communities every day by volunteering their time and talents to nonprofits around the world. Two Alcoa programs recognize these volunteers and the organizations they serve. ACTION-Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods-recognizes a team of Alcoans who provide a day of service by providing a $3,000 grant in their name to the organization where they worked. Bravo! acknowledges the ongoing volunteer efforts of individual Alcoans with a $250 grant to the organization they have helped.
ACTION Program, AFL do Brasil Ltda., Itajubá, Brazil, Escola Estadual Major João Pereira
Safety is the highest internal priority at Alcoa. An ACTION team from AFL do Brasil Ltda. extended that Value outside the company by working with the Escola Estadual Major João Pereira to teach students and teachers about fire safety. With expert instruction from the AFL brigade force, the students and teachers learned how to prevent fire and how to use a fire extinguisher.

Renovation of the Anhumas Park - Itajubá, State of Minas Gerais
The objective of this project is to renovate the Convention Hall located in the park so that it can be used for conferences and training programs on the environment; for the planning of park activities; and for the training of a group of volunteers that will promote environmental education among the local communities. Other project objectives include the renovation of the leisure area; installing signs and directions in the park; and distributing garbage collection cans along trails, paths and leisure areas.
