ST. THOMAS, ONT (March 22, 2004)-Alcoa Fujikura Manufacturing (Canada) Ltd. (AFL) was the recipient of a Free Enterprise Merit Award from the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce for its contribution to the success of the St. Thomas and Elgin County business and social communities. This award recognizes accomplishments among the Chamber of Commerce members. The Elgin St. Thomas Health Unit, a local public health organization, nominated AFL for its commitment to the health and well being of AFL employees and of St. Thomas/Elgin County community members. During the award presentation, the Chamber of Commerce highlighted numerous examples of AFL’s community activities, including extensive employee volunteerism to groups such as Crime Stoppers, United Way, and Elgin Community Living. The 114 employees of AFL’s St. Thomas Service Center support commercial transportation customers such as Sterling Truck and International Truck. Services provided by the facility include final wire harness assembly, instrument panel modular assembly, and sequencing.
